30th SeptemberStockport Team Match ReportFast Paced Game
This week saw Reddish pitched against Stockport for the senior Flags. It was always going be a tough match with Didsbury Northern's 2s Emma Waterhouse and Helen Capstick lined up against us. The game was very fast paced with Stockport putting Reddish under a lot of pressure. The Reddish young half's and backs ( Susan Elcock, Rachel Owen, Hannah Meadwell and Kelsey Redwood) really rose to the challenge and made Stockport have to work hard to get the ball in the net. Unfortunately Kelsey subbed off injured half way through the first half which left poor Bernadette Pheiffer nearly playing a full match, and much to her surprise she survived .."It was a good game and bar 5 mins I did play a full game and didn't drop dead at the end." Stockport were first to score with, goals from Helen Capstick and Chez Thorpe, however the game was not going all their way and Reddish were often making their presence felt in the opposition D and this paid off when striker Emma Richards tapped in a goal to make it 2-1. The pressure from Stockport continued into the second half. Emma Waterhouse was the first to score again when a power shot from the top of the circle was deflected ( of an unnamed defender ) in to the net to bring it to 3-1. Reddish continued fighting, with Amy Nicklin linking up with little Emma Higgs and Sam Piggin to build up attacking play that resulted in a number of shots on goal, but unfortunately we could not find the net. The final score was 5-1 to Stockport. Well Done Everyone. Stockport’s L Thorpe and Reddish`s Amy Nicklin were player of the match.
