19th February Match Reports
Stockport Team Match Report -Hadfield v Reddish
The morning started with the typical last minute chaos as Sarah Wantling A, team keeper, was ill and Andrea was called away to play in Aintree. This left the team with no subs and Bernie Pheiffer had to play a whole match. Hadfield and Reddish were evenly matched, with both teams fielding plenty of under 16`s. Hadfield nearly scored in the first five minutes but were denied by a fine save from Reddish goalie Julie Gavin. Hadfield took the lead midway through the first half from a short corner, when Josie Moore deflected a shot past the post. In the second half Reddish pressed hard for an equaliser. Jackie Pheiffer`s superb reverse stick shot was saved by the quick reaction of Hadfield`s goalie Charlotte Dugdale and Reddish could not get anymore shots on target. With ten minutes to go Josie Moore picked up on a rebound and lifted the ball over the keeper into the net, to make it 2-0 to Hadfield. Lancashire Team Match Report - Reddish v Aintree
A tough match with Aintree able to move quickly with the ball and fire it home quickly and accurately even when under pressure. We saw a lot of outstanding play from all players on our team but we didn't really gel as a team until the part way through the second half. The first half opened with Aintree scoring two goals in the first 10 minutes. 15 minutes into the game we clawed one back after a concerted attack final saw Becky slam the ball home. At half time it was 3-1 to Aintree as Aintree converted a short awarded in the closing seconds of the half, the hit from top D bounced over a defenders foot and was deflected high in the net. In the second half Reddish kept more possession and kept Aintree under pressure but could not convert goals. Aintree however scored 3 more goals on the break, many as a result of converted short corners. In the closing minutes of the game Reddish scored again and the game finished 6-2. Goal Scorers were Becky Schofield and Liela Owen. |
