UNLUCKY REDDISH HOLD CHAMPIONS

DATE FIXTURE RESULT
24/09/05 Reddish A v Edgeley 1 - 1

It was another open game for Reddish as they held the champions Edgeley to a scoring draw at Werneth. Early scoring opportunities were not converted by Reddish and Edgeley took the lead with a fiercely struck shop from Lisa Horbury. Reddish continued to attack but the Edgeley defence held firm and they took their lead into half time.

The start of the second half saw Reddish continue to attack with a skilful runs down the wing from Reddish young player of the match Natalie Sutherland. The Edgeley defence maintained their composure and strong hits from defence enabled them to counterattack but Kerry Roberts, who had an outstanding debut broke down the Edegely attacks and Reddish went on to score their first goal of the season with a skilful reverse hit from Reddish man of the match, Amy Gavin. Injuries meant reddish finished the game with 10 players, yet managed to hold out for the draw and were unlucky not to finish the game with a goal despite constant pressure. Overall a 1-1 draw was a fair result for both teams.
